Welcome to the New Year, we hope you are well rested and ready for the challenges ahead. We are going to post out our newsletters from November for a trial period of 6 months. Holidays

Our lessons began on Saturday 30th August and they will continue to take place as normal for the month of September, as shown in the timetable which can be found on our website. No classes will be held on Sunday 21st September at our Rushey Mead Venue.

There will be some changes for Maths lessons on Monday 22nd September, students affected will be given a letter on September 15th.

Some advance notice for October, our half term holiday will be extended and will now take place from Wednesday 15th October to Sunday 26th October, lessons will commence as normal from Monday 27th October. Please see the section below on Knee Surgery for more information.

A-Level Maths Results

Thank you for all our A-Level students who have informed us of their results, we are still waiting for a few students to get back to us. From the results we have so far, 83% of our students have achieved a grade A* to B.  

GCSE Maths/English/Science Results

Thank you to all of our GCSE students who have informed us of their results for Maths, English and Science. If you haven’t informed us of your results yet, then please do so.

From the 72 exam entries:

• 22 out of 72 students achieved a Grade A* (31%)
• 31 out of 72 students achieved a Grade A (43%)
• 53 out of 72 students achieved a grade A/A* (74%)

Recommend a Friend and win an iPad

During this time of year, many of your friends and family may be looking for some tuition for their children. We would appreciate it if you could pass on our details to your friends.

If you recommend your friend to join they will get their first lesson free and your child will also get a free lesson. If your friend then continues to attend lessons, you will receive a £20 reward after four lessons. (This will decrease to £15 from November 1st).

At the end of the year, the person who recommends the most people throughout the year will win an Apple Mini iPad. Click here for more info

Knee Surgery

Our Maths tutor Anish will be going for knee surgery (ACL Reconstruction) just before the half term holidays on October 15th. He has planned his surgery so he only needs to cancel his classes for two days and will have the break to recover and if everything goes as planned will be able to start tuition after the half term on October 27th. It’s a long term injury which happened in 2010 but has recently got worse and the level of pain is becoming unbearable.  

Before and after surgery you may see Anish sitting down a little more whilst teaching, please excuse him whilst he does this. He is expected to be in crutches until after Christmas but his classes should take place as normal.  

Prices

All of our Key Stage 2, Key Stage 3, and GCSE classes are 60 minutes in length. The fees for the 60 minute lessons are:

• £13 each if your child studies one subject per week
• £12 each if your child studies two subjects per week (£24 total)
• £10.50 each if your child studies three subjects per week (£31.50 total)

Our AS-Level and A2-Level classes are all 90 minutes in length and they are £19 per lesson

Contracts and Registration Forms

Your child should have now received some paperwork from us which parents need to complete and return to us next week. Your child should have 3 bits of paper.

• Registration Form – please complete this and ensure you have a valid email and phone number for both student and parent.
• Contract – (Pink Paper) – please read over this contract and sign and date and return to Direct Tuition.
• Contract (Letterhead) – this is the same as the pink sheet but this copy is for your reference, please retain this copy.

Testimonial Forms

Thank you for all the parents and students who completed the testimonials by the deadline we set in July. From the testimonials we got, we picked the 5 most detailed testimonials as our winners. Our 10th Anniversary

November 17th is our 10 Year Anniversary. Direct Tuition began in 2004 with 3 students and has grown over the last 10 years. We will be celebrating our Anniversary with competitions and prizes in November, keep your eyes peeled.

New Website

Our new website is currently under construction and will go live on October 1st. You can still access the current website here

A-Level Sciences

Our A-Level lessons are beginning this week, we currently have classes for AS-Level Maths (FULL) and A2-Level Maths (nearly FULL)

If students are interested in having a class for Biology, Chemistry or Physics, please inform us in the next few days as we may be able to start some classes provided there are enough students.

Please see the table below to work out your fees for the month of September.

As you can see, if your child attends tuition on Monday or Tuesday, they will have 5 lessons in September. If your child attends tuition on Sunday, they will have 3 lessons in September.
