UEFA meets supporters groups in Nyon

UEFA meets supporters groups in NyonA meeting of European supporters representatives and UEFA recently took place at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. The supporters groups' delegates came from Football Supporters Europe (FSE), Supporters Direct (SD) Europe, and the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE). Access and Inclusion of Disabled People in Sport in Israel

The first-ever conference and associated events for "Access and Inclusion of Disabled People in Sport," which was held in Israel at the beginning of March, had major public and media impact.

The visit was initiated by New Israel Fund's (NIF), Let's Kick Racism out of Israeli Football campaign,CAFE – Centre for Access to Football in Europe, and organized in partnership with the Israel FA, British Council,disability NGO Access Israel and key stakeholders. David Bernstein, CAFE Chairman met with the UEFA President

Mr David BernsteinThe new chairman of The Football Association, David Bernstein, has visited the House of European Football in Nyon. Mr Bernstein met UEFA president Michel Platini and senior UEFA officials for discussions at the European governing body's headquarters in Switzerland. Mr Bernstein was appointed as FA chairman on 25 January 2011. To read more, please click here.

 

Scotish Disabled Supporters Association and CAFE meet with SFA Chief Executive

Meeting of SDSA, CAFE and SFAKeith Ferguson, Gary Cleland (interim chairman SDSA) and Sandy Riach (interim vice chairman) met with Stewart Regan (SFA Chief Executice) at the S. F. A. offices in the National Stadium in Glasgow. Topics discussed included working together to improve the standard of accessible facilities in Scottish football stadiums. In addition thoughts were shared on disabled ticket allocations for Scotland home matches and the very important issue regarding the changes to the National Stadium for the up and coming Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow. To find out more what was discussed during the meeting, please click here

 

Getting started in France - Western European Development Officer, Keith Ferguson

As part of Keith's new role, he recently spent a week in France meeting disabled football supporters across the country.


There are currently five Disabled Supporters Associations (DSA) in place at Paris Saint Germaine, Olympic Marseilles, Lyons, Nantes and St Etienne. Keith had a chance to meet with two of them on this occasion and will be back in France again very soon. Euro 2012: Special needs in focus 

Ukrainian Disabled Supporters at Donbass ArenaDonetsk authorities promised to create the necessary conditions for free movement of disabled people in public places in the city before EURO 2012. European Football Fans' Congress

Fse Fan's CongressIMAGINE FOOTBALL WITHOUT FANS...?! European Football Fans' Congress will take place in Brøndby & Copenhagen between 1-3 July 2011.

2. International Women's Day - 'NEVER AGAIN' and FARE would like to invite you to a women's futsal tournament in Warsaw. The aim of this event is to highlight the issue of anti-discrimination in the context of women's football using the occasion of the International Women's Day. 3. 100th International Womens day - 8th Match is an International Women's day. People all over the world are celebrating women's day every year and thinking of ways to overcome the inequalities that too many still face. You can see a Youtube clip showing a dedicated song and celebration of disabled women from around the world here.

4. Travel for disabled passengers - Many disabled people including football fans will tell you that they find travel by air to be such a traumatic and unpleasant experience that it stops them from going abroad for matches, holidays or any other reason. 5. EU agrees new rights to benefit disabled and older bus passengers - On 15th February 2011, disabled people, and those with mobility
problems, across the European Union won important new rights to travel
