Weekly Update from Jayne Stevens (Participation Co-ordinator)...

Hello everyone! What an amazing week that has been. . .

Thank you to everyone who attended our Transition to Employment Conference on Tuesday first of all and please remind me next year that I'm not to try and run three big workshops in as many months. . . My desire to involve parent carers in key topics always wins through though and we've had some fab feedback from all the events. We're working behind the scenes to use this feedback and parent carers voices where they matter most at strategic (and operational) levels with key work amidst the emotional wellbeing service, through Transition work and inclusion messages, and through joint commissioning arrangements.

It's great that our work is recognised as important, and never more so this week than receiving an invitation from NCVO (National Council for Voluntary Organisations) to attend their Centenary Reception at Windsor Castle with The Queen, The Princess Royal, The Duke of Gloucester and the Duchess of Gloucester attending! Despite this been on the same day as our Conference we made a decision that yeah, we could fit in two 'big' events in one day - so thanks to the team members who were able to support us in making this happen - and more so for our parent carers who without their involvement and support the charity would not be in a position to be invited.

We've continued this week with core work around Joint Commissioning that has been supported by workshop led from Council for Disabled Children and we are delighted that Strategic Co-Production has been highlighted as important and involvement of parent carers, as well as children and young people will be strengthened further.

We're pleased that the Haughton School Coffee mornings have started again and further coffee mornings will also be held at Southall School on the 2nd Friday of the month starting in June - so watch out for those appearing as 'events' soon.

As I closed down my 'working' week - I moved into a weekend of Daughter duties with exams and musical theatre, and I've taken my son to talk about a work experience opportunity - It's took all week to discuss and tease out a conversation about this, and plenty of NO NO NO, and a fair bit of anxiety (that's me and him) and finally a 'what time is it' . . . . . so off we went!!

Have a great week all - Best Regards
Jayne Stevens
