PODS 10th Anniversary Childrens Party

PODS are holding a 10th Anniversary Childrens party to celebrate 10 years of working with, supporting and giving a voice to all carers of children/young people in Telford and Wrekin. The party will be held in conjunction with the Wacky Warehouse who are delighted to be supporting us, we will be having exculsive hire of the play area for the duration of the party along with a buffet,party bags and every adult will receive a drinks voucher. It will also be the launch of our new family group which will run on the last Sunday of each month at the Wacky warehouse from 9.30am-11.00am. The party will take on a Halloween theme so feel free to come in fancy dress, all Children and Young adults are welcome. Free Workshops for Parents

Contact have free workshops running in September, October and November. Listed below are the workshops for November. Dates for workshops running in September and October featured in our previous Ebulletins, you can find them on our website, https://www.podstelford.org/e-bulletins/ If you would like to book on these or any of their Autumn workshops, please email westmids.office@contact.org.uk or call 0121 274 0437. The workshops are free to attend for any parent of a special needs child regardless of where they live.  

Education Health Care Plans: Getting the Content Right on Monday 19th November from 10am-12.15pm

This is a free workshop for parents of disabled and special needs children. Gurvinder Kaur, a specialist solicitor with Access Legal, will discuss: Getting the content of an Education Health and Care plan right, Understanding the transfer process from statement to EHC plan, Annual Review. Gurvinder will be able answer any questions parents might have. The workshop is being held at Donnington Community Hub, St Matthew’s Road, Donnington, Telford, TF2 7RB.

Personal Budgets and Direct Payments in Education and Social Care on Thursday 22nd November from 10.15am-12.30pm

This is an interactive workshop for parents discussing personal budgets and direct payments and how they can be used. It will also look at what parents can do in cases where their request is refused.

The workshop will be facilitated by a solicitor who specialises in public law, special needs education and community care issues. This workshop is being held at Shoosmiths, 6th Floor, 2 Colmore Square/38Colmore Circus, Birmingham, B4 6BJ

Brighter Futures Workshop Programme

6 week programme, Birmingham - Dates and times to be confirmed  

Venue: Allens Croft Disability Resource Centre, Kings Heath, B14 6 RP

A welcoming and informative series of workshops for parents and carers of children aged 0-8 who have additional needs.  The programme runs over 6 weeks and aims to equip parents with the skills and confidence to get the support they need for their child.  It will help parents to prepare for meetings with professionals regarding their children and to be confident in making decisions for their child.   The sessions also cover practical parenting issues and discusses money matters.   

Week 1: A welcome session and introduction; Week 2: Understanding Sleep; Week 3: Building Parental Confidence; Week 4: Encouraging Positive Behaviour; Week 5: Money Matters: Week 6: Support for you. Autism West Midlands September Newsletter 2018

This months Autism West Midlands Newsletter includes an article about Telford Autism Hub winning the award for Outstanding Achievement at the Care with Confidence Awards 2018. Huge Congratulations to the Team! 
The Telford Autism Hub is a partnership between Telford and Wrekin CVS and Autism West Midlands, and is funded by Telford & Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Group. Cerebra Snoozeflash - Sleep Week 2018

Cerebra are holding their first Sleep Week! They will be launching their new sleep tips booklet which explains techniques to help with the ten most common sleep problems it also has lots of information to help your family sleep better.
