Home Education Consultation from Department for Education

Home Education: Call for evidence and revised DfE guidance (Department for Education) This consultation has two parts. First, it is a call for evidence on issues connected with elective home education, in particular: registration of children educated at home; monitoring of home education provision; and support for home-educating families. Secondly, it seeks comment on draft versions of two DfE guidance documents about elective home education, one designed for local authorities and one for parents. The consultation closes on 2 July 2018. The online survey can be accessed here: https://consult.education.gov.uk/school-frameworks/home-education-call-for-evidence-and-revised-dfe-a/

The Department for Education announced a package of measures to help make sure children receive the best possible education either at home or outside of school on 10 April. Weekly Update from Jayne Stevens (Participation Co-ordinator)...

Week back at school and glorious sunshine - hope some of you have had chance to enjoy it too...We started the week with Participation Steering Group meeting and I have finalised the CAMHS (Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service) Report and shared it with key stakeholder, our trustees and via our PODS Forum closed group. Tuesday saw me supporting Face 2 Face Training and then midweek I spent the day in Birmingham at a PDA Society Conference - lots and lots of notes to type up and share with families in due course (although the website is fantastic too!). A midweek 'something different' for me with my first bit of exercise for many years - on the Badminton Court no less - great fun and opportunity to spend time with hubby and other parent carers. Thursday we had a meeting regarding Transport proposals (have you remember to complete the survey yet?) and then onto a speed-networking event in Donnington linking up with community groups. We shared information that families had been talking to us about needs for SEND children and puberty and looking after themselves support - so we will be following this up in due course. I've ended the week in a day's training 'Mentoring and Coaching' part of a 12 month course to support my team in the future.
