Weekly Update from Jayne Stevens (Participation Co-ordinator)...

Hope everyone has had a good Easter and despite the horrid weather yesterday you've managed to get in some quality family time? Hopefully you have had a chance for a peek into the newsletter too - so much to tell you about, it's hard to keep it to a few pages!

So, last week I attended a Prep for Adulthood workshop hosted in Shropshire - we talked about the need to develop Supported Internship programmes and how these are supposed to be for those 'furthest from job market' alongside making apprenticeships much more accessible - funding has been made available locally for the supported internship work although it's not ringfenced (no monies are!) so business cases have to be made for it to be spent on what it is intended for... Monday was Pirates and Princesses family group which I understand was busy again so thank you to my reps for hosting this although we are looking for more helpers please!

I've co-hosted the Face 2 Face befriender training again with Shana - great team of future befrienders who I'm sure are going to be kept busy in the future! The Haughton Coffee Morning is always a pleasure to attend and listening to Simon talking about his SNAC project was enlightening - the passion and drive for this is fantastic and the amount of interest shown was great.

Just before breaking up I took part in a conference telephone call with the National Reps team and an update on work there and how all that feeds down to regional and local level and vice versa.

On a personal note, I've had the experience of BEAM service from Children's Society for my daughter (neurotypical) on Monday evening - all a bit emotional to be honest - and an information evening with NCS for my son and despite his reluctance, following a conversation and a bit of co-ercing out of comfort zone he's looking forward to an adventure in the summer!

This week sees me in the hub today for a meeting with new Women and Children Health commissioner (hope the new hub sofa arrives after the meeting!). Oh and lots of new books arrived yesterday so will be taking those over too. Rest of the week will be taken up with looking at monitoring for our DfE grant and no doubt discussions regarding the wider CAMHS (BeeU) service!

Don't forget our Easter fun family session next Monday - 9th April - my only day at work next week as I'm having a few days away with hubby and the youngsters! xx
