Weekly Update from Jayne Stevens (Participation Co-ordinator)... Good Afternoon. My week has ended with listening to a little bird in my cherry tree whistling its' head off - happy little soul :) Just a few meetings this week - we've met with FairHome regarding supported housing options - very very initial discussions yet to be honest! Then into co-training with Shana for F2F training with the lovely team of trainee befrienders. We've had two full-on days with Planning Tools Workshops and the feedback from families has been great - proper hearts and minds stuff - we've had a positive and affirming message that the social care team want to continue with this work (see the update and feedback in our chatspace group). We've had cupcakes at our family group in Dawley today and attended a webinar on how we can reach the seldom heard groups. On a personal note, my experience as a sandwich carer has been highlighted with a social worker meeting for mum, finally got some answers and a fair bit of persistence, albeit I've run out of time to make a phone call today! Whoops! Matthew's specialist college placement is moving along nicely without any major hiccups, meanwhile my daughter Jess (mainstream) had a great parents evening although the stress of even thinking about exams is getting to her so we're going to check out the Kooth service and see what help they can offer - anyone else tried it? I'd also like to take this opportunity to let you know that I'm a Governor at Haughton School and I can be contacted via the Haughton school website directly about anything that needs to be brought to the attention of the school or staff there. Oh, and last but not least - the newsletters are being packed and the envelopes been stuck with stamps by Kerrie so watch out for a splash of colour landing on your doormats anytime soon!
