Planning Tools Workshops, Face2Face Befriender Training Update & lots more...

Planning Tools Workshops

We are organising a Planning Tools event for you that will provide information and 'Tools' to help you plan the support around your child - whether this be across Health, Education or Social/Community Care. This is family led 'person centred thinking' that will help us to share life planning tools that will support your whole family, build up resilience, challenge perceptions, help support positive risk tasking and using your experiences and influences to support your child/young person living in their own community.

We have asked Kath Bromfield from Rotherham to facilitate these workshops for us who is very experienced in delivering work around these tools and has used them personally and succesfully. Kath has previously presented this information at an InControl Conference that I attended and also to our Parent Rep team.

A workshop will be available aimed at families WITHOUT a personal budget on 21.3.18 but if you are unable to attend on 21st then you are more than welcome to join us on 22nd. Please click on the links below to book your place:

Weekly Update from Jayne Stevens (Participation Co-ordinator)...

Well, the snow has been and gone!! Thank goodness for the rain to wash it all away yesterday! Hope those of you who managed to get out in it for fun and sledging or snowballing enjoyed it whilst it lasted and the school closures didn't cause to much disruption . . . Four of my meeting were cancelled/rescheduled at the end of last week but not for long! It gave me a chance to catch up on some emails and also to sort out the Planning Tools workshops for 21/22 March - see our events listings for more information please. These workshops are for any of our families to attend whether you are at SEN Support stage, have an EHCP, whether you have a personal budget or not - they can be used as much or as little as you want them to be - but they are personal to you - the same way as a 'one page profile' might be useful to you too. We spent quite a few hours on Friday reviewing the finances of PODS Charity - ensuring we are keeping on track and that everything we do focusses on what it important for you. It's our 10th year anniversary this year so we're going to start talking about plans in our Admaston Family Group today - needless to say this was our very first 'family group' that was set up (first Monday of the month) all those years ago!!

We heard from some families who had been expecting an email to confirm school places on 1st March and through conversations with LA it was advised that school placements were allocated in February and this information was on EHCPs. We've asked for this information to be made clearer in future and if you have any queries regarding school place would encourage you check your EHCP documentation or to give the SEND Team a call on 385399.

Heading into this week, I'm attending a SEN Law Conference in London tomorrow with one of our trustees and then Autism West Midlands Conference in Shropshire with a Parent Rep on Thursday. I'd also like to remind you that it's International Women's Day on Thursday and The Wakes at Oakengates have a range of events with speakers there too which I'm sure will be great.

Come and join us at our Family Groups...
