Weekly Update from Jayne Stevens (Participation Co-ordinator)...

The week that was last week - and a week of 'Firsts' saw our very first Pirates and Princesses family group that was organised by two of our parent reps - the group ran from 5-7pm and we had 65 people through the door (parent carers and their children) from all ages. The staff at P&P were fantastic. It was great to see lots of new families and some families we hadn't seen for a while - the support and networking between families was great to see too and the sensory room was a big hit! Tuesday saw me attending our First Carers Partnership Board meeting - for carers of all ages and previously not included parent carers - but it does now and alongside the Carers Voices Project parent carers have a defined place that covers information and guidance and also wider Mental Health. We were able to ask about how our cohort of carers had been involved in developing new community catalyst programmes in key areas of Telford and this will be followed up, networking with other groups who we can share our work with and a meeting has been requested with us with by the Assistant Director responsible for Governance, Procurement & Commissioning.

Wednesday we supported a Graduated Response Workshop for families at SEN Support level (prior to EHCP requests). This had been delivered to SENCO's last year and we made suggestion that information needed to be shared with parent carers. There will be a range of information shared from the session via the SEND Local Offer in due course. Feedback from families has been really positive overall with opportunity to ask direct questions and receive help.

The Hub at Stepping Stones has been in operation this week (Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon) with information sharing and resource making for families (more about that on our Face 2 Face page).

End of the week saw me delving into books and paperwork working on my penultimate assignment for my "Award in Education and Training" - an official training qualification which I'm hoping to put to good use as I develop my parent rep training network.

Thank you again to everyone and particularly to my parent reps who continue to support the work of PODS Forum and representing the wider parent carer voices.
