BEAM - New Drop-in services for young people in Shropshire
Beam is a recently launched drop-in facility in Shropshire and Telford. Their aim is to provide young people, up to the age of 25 with advice, signposting and support with any concerns relating to mental and emotional wellbeing. Beam is part of the new Mental Health service in Shropshire and Telford, previously known as CAMHS. Beam is run by The Children’s Society. Their great team of Youth Workers, Therapists and trained Wellbeing Volunteers offer young people with guidance on mental health topics. Their specialist staff members provide caring advice and guidance in particular areas including anxiety, mood management and self-esteem.
There is no need to book an appointment- young people can simply drop in and converse with volunteers and staff on the below dates and venues:
Mondays from 1pm-5:30pm at Hollinswood Neighbourhood Centre, 7 Downemead, Hollinswood, Telford TF3 2EW
Thursdays from 2pm-6pm at Palmers Coffee Shop, Claremont Street, Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Update on development of Emotional Health and Wellbeing service for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin.
As previously shared PODS and PACC have been meeting with the mental health commissioners for Telford and Wrekin and Shropshire to discuss concerns raised with us by families about the development and delivery of the new 0-25 Emotional Health and Wellbeing Service, which has replaced the previous Child and Adolescence Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for the two areas.
We have recently had a further meeting to discuss how we as families can contribute to the development of this new service and in particular, the parts of the service that offers support or diagnosis to those with learning disabilities and / or neurological conditions such as Autism and ADHD. As a result of these discussions we are now in the process of organising a series of events for parent carers to come together and to share their ideas about how these parts of the service should work, what support they should offer and what they should be aiming to achieve for children and young people with learning disabilities and /or neurological conditions.
We will keep you informed as these plans develop and share the dates of these events as soon as they are confirmed. Please continue to send us any relevant feedback that you might have to inform this work.

Dawley Evening Family Group: Will be held on November 16th 7-9pm at Elephant and Castle (instead of 9th)
