We have the results of the Photographic Competition, and information on a consultation by Surrey County Council, conclusion of last year's audit, and an HCG update and others.

Online survey - have your say about countryside car park charging

Surrey County Council would like to learn more about how Surrey residents use the countryside and your views on car park charging.

With reduced funding available Surrey County Council is now looking at ways that the countryside estate can be self-funding to ensure the care and management that the countryside needs can be guaranteed for the future.

One way to do this is charging visitors for the use of facilities on sites such as countryside car parks. This has been done by many other landowners including the National Trust, the Forestry Commission and other county councils.

An online survey is available here.  The deadline for comments is 6 November 2017.

Notice of Conclusion of Audit

BDO LLP has completed the Annual Audit for the financial year ending 31 March 2017.  The auditor is satisfied with the council’s financial standing and has issued a Notice of Completion on 28 September 2017 with an unqualified opinion. The Annual Return was approved by Full Council on 17 October 2017.

Under the terms of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015 the following documents are available. There were no issues arising from the audit.

Horley Conservation Group

Many thanks to the volunteers from the Horley Conservation Group that joined Gatwick Greenspace Partnership at the Fieldings, Horley on Sunday 15th Oct to plant the first new fruit trees for a little wildlife orchard area. HCG will be clearing around the older, existing fruit trees (to give them more light and space) and removing a small oak tree to increase the light levels.

They are there again on Saturday 18th November to begin cutting back along the informal path along one side and around the existing fruit trees along both edges.  A small oak tree will also need to be cut and cleared away, so again, plenty to do here next month.

Remembrance Day Parade Sunday 12 November.

The Remembrance Day Parade and Service take place on Sunday 12 November 2017 from 1050 am. Those who are participants of the parade should assemble at the Horley RBL Headquarters, Albert Road, from 10.00 am. The parade will form up in Consort Way West, and then move off headed by the Redhill Corps of Drums Band, turning into Victoria Road and proceeds towards Vicarage Lane where the parade will break off and walk towards the War Memorial Gardens.

If anyone would like to volunteer in marshalling Victoria Road etc for the parade please email Peter Moxley

PEOPLE OF ANY DENOMINATION ARE VERY WELCOME TO ATTEND AND JOIN US IN OUR ANNUAL ACT OF REMEMBRANCE.
