Update from Jayne Stevens, Strategic Lead

Hello everyone - just a quick update to see the week out of what your Parent Carer Forum has been up to this week!

Exciting start to the week with a visit to Parliament and a tour around the Palace of Westminster - great to see the inner workings and the Chapel (such a beautiful place) and so much history. It's been a very sensitive week with the budget and whilst we have shared information from Contact charity (a responsible source of information) we know there are likely to be more questions and clarity needed.

One of our most intense conversations this week on our social media private group has been around Short Breaks - these conversations have been collated, alongside feedback from families at a couple of parent carer led group sessions that we have held. We are pulling all this information into a report for the next Strategic Short Breaks meeting later on next week (w/c 1st Dec). We are thankful for this feedback from families as it helps us to represent you appropriately - whether you are from a mainstream school, a specialist setting or a complex needs family - if we hear you, we can support and represent you too๐Ÿ™‚

Our PINS work continues and we have met with leads from primary schools to talk through co-production and work through how schools can engage families to attend things like coffee mornings and events and how we can use the 'Working Together' Charter to ensure this is all done effectively.

We've had a lovely couple of sessions with schools this week and the local community hub at Lawley too - some great information shared from Healthwatch and the Read Easy community offer - watch out for flyers shared on socials soon!...

A Home Education workshop with health and other charity/community partners saw us finish the week at a strategic level and some great inroads made in discussions around the need for support, understanding and communication.

Continue to reach out to us, chat and share your experiences - you really do help us to Make A Difference - thank you๐Ÿ™‚
