PARENT CARER FORUM UPDATE

Hi, it's Jayne here - the lead of the PCF. I've been asked to restart my updates again - so here goes!

You might have seen all the comms about Autism/ADHD workshops, so I've been busy arranging those, welcoming families and talking through experiences, there's been a regular meeting with hospital team and one of the things looking at through that is the waiting area information for people with additional needs (you might have seen the discussion on PODS Chatspace about use of symbols/words). A meeting with senior leaders and service managers from SEND services, and also a 'Keeping in Touch' meeting with regional Department for Education (DfE) and NHS England representatives was an opportunity to talk through local systems and challenges, discussions about the upcoming White Paper for SEND, hotly anticipated for this Autumn! On Thursday and Friday I had an opportunity to be out and about in the community - joining the Family Hubs team at Newport Cafe (great to catch up with families not seen for a while) and at a Mental Health Day event at a local secondary school on Friday celebrating World Mental Health Day - some very insightful messages from young people themselves. Never one to turn down an opportunity for networking and showcasing the work of PODS I was joined by Jo and we went along to Interfaith Council in Wellington for their Youth Focus event. Met with local dignitaries and heard from some amazing and inspirational speakers including Dribbz who has shared his YouTube channel with us to pass on to our families. If you ever get the opportunity to hear him speak, you will be in for a treat for sure!  We will share more of his work over he coming months too.

This week sees more engagement for the Autism/ADHD project, and some 1:1 meetings with parent carers, we're back in schools again with Uma, doing some school visits and PINS sessions, we have the Short Breaks forum hosted at PODS Hub, ending the week with my Leadership course in Warwick and a Hate Crime conference on Friday!

Have a good week all of you, and remember to reach out and share your experiences - because it all helps to 'Make A Difference' - Thank You.
