BeeU Drop in with Assistant Psychologist 

As you are aware there have been some changes within the BeeU team and one of these is the recruitment of Assistant Psychologists who are offering 'waiting well' support to families on the Neurodiversity pathways (ADHD, ASD), to signpost to other services and to give an update on waiting times and review your assessment journey.   

New Dates released: 30th July and 13th August

Increased time slots are now 30 minute long and will run between 12 and 3.30pm.

Challenges at Home Sessions

"Challenges at home" sessions for families who have a child o NeuroDiversity (Autism, ADHD, etc) assessment pathway or undergoing diagnosis.  Open to 0-18 years from mainstream and special schools

For families to discuss home/life concerns and seek information and advice from Educational Psychologist team around emotional, behaviour, social, anxieties, routines, etc.

We use these sessions to support families to find solutions together and share experiences and offer mutual support in a safe and supportive place.

PODS Social Support Group at Blists Hill

Wednesday 17th July 2024 from 10am-12pm at PODS Hub, 1 Hawksworth Road, Central Park, Telford, TF2 9TU

Come and join us at PODS Family Group in Blists Hill Victorian Town for a chat, relax and meet with friendly faces. Ask us for some advice or just enjoy a walk around the village. 

Tickets are available at a subsidised cost of £3 per person. PODS will provide 1 tea/coffee/soft drink to each person booked, however you will have to purchase your own other refreshments if required.  

Places are limited and booking is essential, open to all PODS members living in Telford and Wrekin. Please note that the tickets are non-refundable. Children, of any age, are welcome however if they are under 2 years old, no ticket is required. We will be meeting at the entrance at 10am, please let us know if you will be late or can no longer make it so as the group can enter on time.

PODS Summer Holiday Drawing Session

Wednesday 14th August 2024 from 11am-1pm at PODS Hub, 1 Hawksworth Road, Central Park, Telford, TF2 9TU

PODS are hosting a Summer Drawing Session for young people and their siblings.  

Our sessions have a very relaxed atmosphere but there is always a specific focus. This session is: CHARACTERS 
- though young people do not need to stick to this theme if they prefer not to - 

Tickets: £3 per young person attending  

All the materials needed will be provided to all the young people booked. Young People are welcome to bring their own creations, reference images and/or materials if they wish  

Parents/carers to stay on the site during the session. All tickets are non-refundable.

iCan2 Announcement

iCan2 Membership - REQUIRED

As you may be aware, iCan2 is the membership scheme ran by Telford and Wrekin Council to offer fun and engaging activities to children and young people 0-17 with disabilities. iCan2 provides targeted and preventative level support for children and young people where disability has a moderate or severe impact on day-to-day life. Within the scheme, there are providers that deliver creative arts, sports and leisure, and youth clubs. We also offer passes for local attractions, such as Tenpin Bowling, Hoo Zoo, Attingham Park, Ironbridge Museums, Shugborough Estate and Monkey Forest at Trentham.

The scheme has recently undergone some changes, and in order to access all of the wonderful activities and local attraction passes, membership is required. If you would like to become a member and access these exciting opportunities, please complete and return the attached form. You can find more details, including eligibility criteria here.

NEW – Creative Arts Club

We are pleased to announce that the 4 All Foundation is, following a tender process, the selected provider of a new Arts activity programme for iCan2 members. 

The 4 All Foundation is an experienced provider of various activity programmes from Shropshire that include holiday clubs, youth clubs, multi sports programmes and more. You can read more about them here including their annual report.

The new Arts Club will offer sessions for Music, Dance and Drama, offering a programme across the year that may offer:

  • Music: African Drumming, Ukulele, DJ Making and Steel Drums
  • Dance: Zumba, Clubbercise, Street Dance and Irish Dancing
  • Drama: Activities and performances linked to Disney and the West End. 

The activities offered by the 4 All Foundation are designed to be not only educational but also fun, memorable, and enjoyable. By fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, the Foundation seeks to empower young people to pursue their passions, build meaningful relationships, and unlock a world of possibilities.

New Summer STEPS Programme

Steps are delighted to announce their next programme.

This Programme aims to give adults (over 18) the skills and confidence to build self-esteem, meet new people, access opportunities, improve wellbeing and learn about horses. The Programme is FREE and funded by Reaching Communities – The National Lottery Community Fund. It will be a mix of fun classroom based activities and online learning, with practical hands on experience of working with horses.

Adaptive Bike Launch

Sharing from Telford & Wrekin Council...

"Save the date! Telford & Wrekin Council are about to make more inclusive in the borough!

The Travel Telford team are launching a brand-new fleet of adaptive bikes. These bikes will be available to hire from Telford Bike Hub in Telford Town Park at the end of July – just in time for the summer holidays!

They are making cycling more accessible for everyone Telford and Wrekin and this new range of bikes are for both young people and adults with a variety of learning and physical disabilities, as well as health issues. The new fleet will be used for a variety of activities including helping more children complete the #10by10 programme.

Keep your eyes peeled for more information soon. In the meantime why not come and have a look what’s on offer and talk to the team about how these new bikes could be used.

Saturday 20 July from 11am until 4pm at Telford Bike Hub (in Telford Town Park) next to the Visitor Centre

  • Families can have a go one of the 13 new bikes – there will be variety of bikes on offer to support residents with additional needs who would otherwise not be able to cycle.
  • The bikes have both user and carer controls. The range includes a hand powered cycle, wheelchair loader, side by side, trikes and more.
  • Get advice from the @TravelTelford team about what bike best suits you or your child’s needs.
  • Plus learn about our local bike routes in and around Telford Town Park or tell us more about what is needed to make routes more accessible and usable.
