PODS Buddy Scheme

A PODS Buddy offers support to parent carers that may find it difficult to make that first step to attend a family group.

Our friendly PODS Buddy would meet you at the door, walk in with you, and stay with you at the family group, to make sure you are comfortable and not alone.

All our Buddies are parent carers, and have all had to make that first step, so they know how you’re feeling and are there to support you.

For more information or to enquire about having a PODS Buddy, please contact kerrie@podstelford.org or call: 07309 753044.

Mental Health Services Experiences

There is a big national piece of work going on around experiences of Mental Health Services.  We'd like to invite you to get involved by using the following links: https://solvingtogether.crowdicity.com/category/browse

Your opinions make a difference.

Help us shape the future of our Mental Health Services through Solving Together https://solvingtogether.crowdicity.com/

Join the conversation about reducing waiting times for children and young people’s mental health services.

For the first time, the NHS is launching a month-long online conversation on children and young people’s mental health, with a focus on gathering learning and ideas on how we can improve waiting times and make services more accessible.

Using the Solving Together platform we will be inviting partners involved in the children and young peoples mental health pathway, professionals, children and young people and their families to have a say about this critical issue – with a focus on collecting ideas and best practice for ways to make our NHS services better in the future.

There are 3 'conversations':

  • Prevention and Early Intervention
  • Experience of services conversation
  • Transfer of care and wider support

Special Education Notice - Children and Young People Vaping

Extract from a Letter to Parent Carers from Liz Noakes Director: Health & Wellbeing (Statutory Director of Public Health...

"Recently, Telford & Wrekin Health & Wellbeing Board published the "Children & Young People and Vaping Position Statement", which I strongly encourage you to read (by visiting www.telford.gov.uk/youngpeoplevaping or calling 01952 384200, 9am-5pm weekdays for a paper copy). This document summarizes the current known risks of vaping among young people and provides essential information for you and the young people you care for.

An estimated 1,900 young people aged 11-17 in our borough experimented with vaping already this year, a staggering 136% increase from 2014. It is also estimated that 600 young people aged 11-17 vape every day, a concerning rise from less than 100 regular vapers in 2014. This rise in vaping among young people is not unique to our borough and is a national concern."
