Volunteers Week

1-7 June is 'National Volunteers Week' and we'd like to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone, who is volunteering with us or who has supported us in the past. Volunteering is a very special role in our Charity, and we wouldn't be where we are today without your support - whether you are a Parent Rep, a Champion, a Befriender, a Fundraiser, help out at Events or Activities - you all hold a special place in the heart of PODS Charity.

Update from Jayne, Strategic Co-ordinator

Morning everyone - how was your half term break - did you get to do the things you wanted to do, and did you have enough support to do so?

It was a good week to see so many families enjoying our regular Blists Hill session, and new families too that I'd not seen before, we had our activity sessions at the Hub as always during the holidays, and a session held at the Newport Hub, the cafe over there, that has such a brilliant offer and lots of young people with special needs running it, under the guidance of a brilliant team of dedicated and passionate parents! You should be very proud of what you've got going on there.

The meetings and representing families goes on behind the scenes and continues in the holidays - lots to include and lots to say about all sorts of services, we've wrote a case study up about our Parent Reps as part of Volunteers Week (shared with council so look out for that coming to your social media/news feeds this week), making plans for communications about the NeuroDevelopment pathway work - how this will link up to the Healthier Together Website and the National guidance regarding 'Pathway flowcharts'.

At the end of last week we had a meeting regarding the Adapted Bikes project, we now have a catalogue of bikes suitable for all ages and we'd like to invite families to review these (I can send info by email?). We will also be asking for volunteers to support us with a bike bath plan for Town Park and doing some testing. This is a really exciting project, and if you'd like to know more about it, please join the Short Breaks Forum on 26 June at 1pm (hosted by PODS Hub).
Anytime, if you want to discuss anything at all or raise any questions or concerns please reach out to me via jayne@podstelford.org or 0777 534 2092.

Thank you and Best Regards
Jayne
