Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week from 24th April - 30th April

24th April-30th April is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week. MS Society’s website shares information about MS, including some information below:

Facts about multiple sclerosis:

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves (myelin) is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move think and feel.

Multiple sclerosis a neurological condition, meaning it affects your nerves.

Once diagnosed, MS stays with you for life, but treatments and specialists can help to manage the condition and its symptoms.

More than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. In the UK people are most likely to find out they have MS in their thirties, forties and fifties. But the first signs of MS often start years earlier.

Everyone's MS is different so no two people, even if they’re closely related, will have the same type of symptoms, or have them as badly.

Did you know that exercise and physical activity can be very helpful in managing many MS symptoms? Speak to your health professional to find out which type of activity is best for you. Find out more at MS Society

International Dance Day- 29th April

We know that dancing is good for our flexibility, weight loss, core strength, cardiovascular (heart) and lung health, coordination, strength and balance, but did you know that dancing can also improve our memory and brain health, minimize stress and anxiety, and reduce depression and loneliness?

Added to that are the benefits of socialising, meeting new people and making new friends, plus more self confidence and self-esteem that joining a dancing group can bring. In fact, it has so many benefits to our general health and wellbeing, that some people have described dancing as ‘the secret to eternal youth’!
