Ironbridge Early Birds Sessions & Lots More...

Ironbridge Early Birds Sessions

Sharing from Ironbridge...

"A special early opening for families with children who would enjoy the museum at a quieter time. This would particularly suit those with ASD and other sensory processing differences.

On the first Saturday of the month, we open the museum exclusively before hours, and wherever possible will have adjusted operations and/or lowered volume levels on exhibits. Enjoy exploring at your own pace or take part in a museum led activity.

There is no upper or lower age limit for this, but children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult. £2 per participant; two carers/parents free per booking, additional carers/parents £2 per person.

Pre booking advisable, but you can turn up on the day.

Please note, Enginuity opens to the public at 10am; you are welcome to stay after this time but should be aware that noise levels will increase, and that an entrance ticket will be required."

Hayfever- as Featured in April’s Healthy Telford Newsletter

Tips to manage hay fever symptoms:

For those looking to manage their symptoms as effectively as possible, the following handy tips are well worth trying:

  • If possible, stay indoors when the pollen count is high. To check the pollen count in your area, the Met Office provides up-to-date information on the pollen forecast for five days ahead.
  • Plan outdoor activities for afternoons. Pollen levels are at their highest in the morning, rising with the warming air, and again in the evening when it’s cooling down. Keep windows and doors closed during these times.
  • Don’t hang clothes out to dry as they may pick up pollen.
  • Protect your eyes and mouth. Consider wearing wraparound sunglasses and use petroleum jelly around your nostrils to trap pollen.
  • Shower and change when you come indoors to wash pollen off.
  • Avoid large grassy areas, woodland, cutting the grass, pollutants and car fumes.
  • Pick up over-the-counter treatments during your weekly supermarket shop, so you always have some available in your medicine cabinet at home.

Advice can also be obtained from the NHS website. See more Healthy Telford content or check out Healthy Telford’s Facebook.
