Women's Safety Matters Survey Sharing from Telford & Wrekin Council... "Do you think being female affects your personal safety? If so, could you help us by filling out our latest ‘Safety Matters’ survey please? We know that women are disproportionally affected by violence such as domestic abuse, stalking and harassment and have long since championed support and preventative measures in Telford and Wrekin. This survey will build on that work through the Safer & Stronger Communities project, but we need your input to make sure investment into safety measures are in areas that really count. Please take five minutes to complete the survey here? http://www.telford.gov.uk/safetymatters It’s not exclusively for women so if you’re a man and have a view on how to improve safety please feel free to complete the survey too. Read more about why we’re investing here https://newsroom.telford.gov.uk/News/Details/16604"

Working Together Charter Goes 'Live' We know at PODS, the power and importance of our parent carer voices, which we gather every day. We gather these voices and experiences to help us to co-produce local services. As the formal Parent Carer Forum leading on Participation and Co-Production for the past fifteen years, we are in a really important place to share our families’ experiences – where it matters most – at a strategic and operational level, with key commissioners, managers and service leads across health, social care and education teams. This Working Together Charter has been developed over the past three years to further support co-production and strengthen working together to ensure parent carer voices are included in all decisions and developments in the SEND World. Over the years we have had many conversations with families and feedback has always mentioned communication and how important it is. We have worked with partners to develop this charter, learning from best practice and a Department for Education recognised project. The Working Together Charter (named by families) embeds 4 key principles to build ‘TRUST’. They are:

Update from Jayne, Strategic Co-ordinator Hello all - how are you doing? We wanted to update you on what's been happening this last few weeks. I'm sure that you've seen the 'Working Together' Charter news release; we are really excited for this piece of work and we will be sharing more with you. We already have a commitment to work with a couple of schools, so we'll be starting that work soon - with family groups and mini-forums. If you are interested in getting involved in this work and you think your school would be a great mini-base, we'd love to hear from you, 0777 534 2092 / jayne@podstelford.org. Our ongoing conversations regarding short breaks are continuing, and with the new Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) we have begun having more discussions regarding eligibility, criteria, access routes etc. SEND boards are continuing and these are expanding to include more health, so we have the whole BeeU and mental health, early years work areas that we are continuing to feed into. We know that BeeU service access remains a challenge for our families and recovery plans are being discussed. I'm happy to pick up individual cases and can access the team to check what is happening. We've had some recent communication regarding letters that have been shared and we've asked to be part of how these are written so families have the right information at the right time. The 0-5 pathway work has continued, we're representing families on the various pathways, autism, communication and speech and language. Some great news from leisure services with more inclusive offers across ice rink, soft play and the new developments and equipment going into the gyms for our young people to be able to access. The annual review workshop on Friday was really well attended, and as any workshop/training goes, always able to learn something new - even me! We look forward to more of these joint events with the council SEND Team and SENDIASS. For anyone who has missed the social stories workshop, we will be running another workshop again, and also the 'Challenges at Home' sessions are open for bookings again from February. Look forward to catching up with families soon again. Best Regards Jayne@podstelford.org / 0777 534 2092 Action for Happiness Calendar - Happier January 2023
