PODS Challenges at Home Sessions

"Challenges at home" sessions for families who have a child on assessment pathway or undergoing diagnosis of autism. 

Open to 0-18 years from mainstream and special schools.

For families to discuss home/life concerns and seek information and advice from Educational Psychologist team around emotional, behaviour, social, anxieties, routines, etc. We use these sessions to support families to find solutions together and share experiences and offer mutual support in a safe and supportive place.

Social Stories Workshop

Wednesday 25th January 2023 from 9.15am-12pm at PODS Hub, Hawksworth Road, Central Park, Telford, TF2 9TU

For family members who have a child or young person and are going through an assessment for Autism or on the pathway. Age range: 0-18 years.

"A social story is a simple description of a situation, concept, or social skill. It is individualised for each child, and features the child as the main character".

It helps with new situations and supports around changes or when a child/young person is anxious about a situation. This is an additional session to our 'Challenges at Home' sessions and will be run by Principal Educational Psychologist and members of her team.

PODS Minecraft Club

Tuesday 10th January 2023 - Tuesday 23rd May 2023 at PODS Hub, 1 Hawksworth Road, Central Park, Telford, TF2 9TU

A chance to come together and enjoy a session of Minecraft. Please note Minecraft will be accessed via PODS iPads which are linked to one another to allow multiplayer options. Children will not be able to access their own Minecraft accounts for safety reasons. 
Sessions open to children and young people of all ages who are members of PODS including their siblings.

Drinks and biscuits provided. Session costs are non-refundable, parent/carer/PA must remain on site for the duration of the session. Please ensure every Child/young person attending has a ticket, those attending without a ticket will be turned away. Adult tickets are NOT required.

PODS Code Club **Spaces still Available**

Monday 9th January 2023 - Monday 27th March 2023 at PODS Hub, 1 Hawksworth Road, Central Park, Telford, TF2 9TU

PODS Code Club is running sessions for children from 7-13 years old during Term Time. The children will be learning to code in SCRATCH. Along with learning how to code, the children will also be building upon their skills like problem solving, collaboration and communication. 

Session costs are non-refundable, parent/carer/PA must remain on site for the duration of the session. Please ensure every child/young person attending has a ticket, those attending without a ticket will be turned away. Adult tickets are NOT required.

The Ice Cream Farm - SEN Session

The Ice Cream Farm's next SEN session is on Sunday 8th January from 9am-11am.

The following adjustments are made at the sessions:

  • Reduced numbers.
  • Music and dryers turned off.
  • Ear defenders available on request.

Royal Life Saving Society have an educational Winter Safety Activity Booklet and colouring in sheet to help start conversations about water safety.

As we head into a New Year, and first day back in the office today, thought we'd write a quick calendar of highlights over this past year!

Of course, our core work continues - involving and supporting all our families with the parent carer forum, the befriending and emotional support, trips and activities, clubs and fundraising:

January: Mindfulness course
February: Lower Drayton Farm Visit
March: We won a Telford Pride award
April: Challenges at Home sessions continued
May: Justice Project was launched
June: Queens Jubilee celebrations
July: We continued supporting local community partners with holiday activities.
August: Celebration of our Queens Award for Voluntary Service and of course our showcase event Picnic in the Park.
September: Autism in Schools Project started for it's 2nd year.
October: We moved into our new office - the "PODS Hub"
November: We continued with Sleep workshops
December: No less than 3 Christmas events.

We look forward to involving and supporting you into the New Year.
