Welcome to the September newsletter

Hi %FirstName%

This month we are casting (no pun intended) our eye on the industrial Foundry and Press tool arena.

Also our man in Japan is on a pilgrimage to the Frankfurt motor show. This is his first visit to a motor show looking at new cars through the eyes of a budding design engineer and ‘A’ class surface designer. If you have any good suggestions for his visit please go to his blog (see link below) and email him your suggestions.

We are only a phone call or quick email away, so please contact us with your questions to see how we can help. We look forward to hearing from you.

Please follow us on LinkedIn and Twitter and let us know what you would like to see in future newsletters. We can then make sure that we improve the newsletter offering month on month.

Thank you to those that have been providing us with feedback so far, your input is much appreciated.

Let us know how we can become your first choice service supplier for all things, 3D scanning, reverse engineering, Design and Measurement.

With regards

Neale Williams

Meeting the needs of your clients

There is a rising demand for quality, accuracy and efficiency from both the casting/foundry and Stamping industries. By using a combination of 3D scanning, using our Atos scanners, and Tritop photogrammetry we aid manufacturers in meeting the needs of their clients.

The use of high quality, quick and accurate 3D scanning of parts of any size can support either of these industries for:

a) Design support. This is useful for the recording and storing of legacy data, reverse engineering, design support and recording of design iterations.

b) Dimensional analysis. Die and Panel Inspection, Spring back analysis, as built versus nominal design, gap and clearance conditions, first article inspection, material thickness check on castings, reduction in die try out.

c) Production Support. Reduction in the use of checking fixtures, Issue analysis and root cause trend analysis

When allied to our GOM touch probe facility and our Design and reverse engineering service we can supply all our clients with a in house turnkey service.

We are pleased to say that the above skill sets are core to SurfDev’s design and measurement team.

If you require further information or want to discuss a potential project give us a call and tap into our experience.

Optical 3D measurements providing benefits to foundry processes

3D measurements

Foundries and forging shops the world over use the ATOS 3D digitizer from GOM for surface measurements in shape and dimensional control of patterns, sand cores and castings. Full-surface measurement by means of ATOS guarantees rapid evaluation of complete and complex surfaces of components.

From Tokyo to Frankfurt - An engineer's blog

Joe's blog

As summer soared in Japan, Joe ditched the sweltering city and headed off to the Southern Okinawan island of Ishigaki. No, we’d never heard of it either but judging by his tales and pictures we definitely want to go there.

Joe will be back visiting us soon but not before he attends the Frankfurt Motor Show. As it will be his first time to the city he’s after a favour from all of our readers; he would like suggestions of things to do and see at the show and afterwards in Frankfurt. You can get in touch with Joe here.
