CAFE logoCAFE named official charity of 2013 UEFA Super Cup charity ticket auction

UEFA has today (29 July) launched a charity ticket sale auction for the match between the UEFA Champions League winners, FC Bayern München, and the UEFA Europa League winners, Chelsea FC, at the Eden Stadium in Prague on Friday 30 August at 20.45CET.

UEFA will donate all raised funds to CAFE, working towards achieving a more accessible and inclusive matchday experience for disabled supporters across Europe. For full details on the ticket auction click here.

Baroness Tanni Grey ThompsonEnglish Premier League football Debate in House of Lords

A debate, raised by Lord Bates, was held in the House of Lords on the 25th July on the international economic and cultural contributions of English Premier League football. During the debate several questions about disabled fans access at Premier League clubs and the need for improvements were raised. To read more click here.

Tom Burt at a Yeovil Town matchYeovil Town fan Tom stars in new Sky Sports advert

Anyone watching the new Sky Sports advert promoting the new season might have blinked twice when they noticed Yeovil Town disabled supporter Tom Burt on their screen.

Tom took part in the 30 second ad featuring supporters from a number of league clubs around the country, and makes a short appearance with the words, ‘Little Yeovil Town. ‘For the full story click here.

Suzanne Bull from ‘Attitude is Everything’ receives MBE

Level Playing Field was thrilled to hear that Suzanne Bull has been awarded a very well-deserved MBE for services to music, the arts and disabled people in the Queen’s Birthday honours 2013.

LPF values it’s friendship with Attitude is Everything and hugely respects the works Suzanne does within the music industry which resonates so much with our own endeavours for sports fans. Please see here for more on Suzanne’s MBE.

EHRC launches new guidance: ‘Assistance dogs - a guide for all businesses’

Guidance has been produced by the EHRC to help businesses understand what they can do to comply with their legal duties under the Equality Act 2010 and encourage businesses to welcome registered Assistance dogs accompanied by their disabled owner onto their premises. You can download a word or pdf version here.
