Level Playing Field Weeks of Action 2013

LPF logoThe Level Playing Field 2013 Weeks of Action will take place from the 6th to the 21st April 2013.

The Weeks of Action represent a real opportunity for clubs, disabled supporters and other fans groups and disability organisations to celebrate Level Playing Field and our works. They also provide a platform for clubs to show what they have achieved for their disabled supporters, and the wider local disabled community. There is a lot of positive work going on around the sports world and we feel that clubs should use the Weeks of Action to demonstrate what they have been doing for their disabled supporters.

In some cases that two week period may not be convenient, but do not let that put you off. We would still be delighted to hear of events being planned outside of the two week window if that allows for clubs to get involved.

Oliver Storey receiving his awardFor example, Watford held their event to celebrate the LPF Weeks of Action on the 23rd February at their game against Derby County. The club invited a number of guests, and at half time they presented the Every Player Counts ‘Unsung Hero of the Year’ award to Oliver Storey for his work as a matchday volunteer. For more information on this event click here.

It is also an opportunity for clubs to remind everyone that attends their matchdays that they will not tolerate discrimination in any form including disability hate crime and abuse on the terraces. If you require any information or assistance on this subject please do contact us at info@levelplayingfield.org.uk or call 01244 893584. You can also report abuse and discrimination to the FA at FootballForAll@TheFA.com or on 0800 085 0508.

To view the matchday programme template or list of suggested activities, please visit our website at: www.levelplayingfield.org.uk/lpf-weeks-action. Any activities planned to mark the Weeks of Action do not have to be limited to what is contained in this list, and we would be delighted to hear of any other original ideas that you may have.

We would like to know what is happening beforehand so that we can help to publicise events via our e-newsletter and website. Several clubs and DSA’s have already begun to let us know what they have planned, you can join them in letting us know what your club plan to do.

Please contact us if you are planning any events, would like the LPF logo or have any other questions around the Weeks of Action via email info@levelplayingfield.org.uk or phone on 01244 893584.
