Level Playing Field Weeks of Action 2012

Level Playing Field is delighted to announce the start of the 2012 Weeks of Action campaign.

The campaign will run for two weeks from 10-25 March, and is a fantastic opportunity for sports clubs to highlight the positive work that they do for their disabled supporters. All clubs are urged to get involved, and Level Playing Field will be sharing information of activities run by the clubs via their website and newsletters.

Joyce Cook OBE, the Chair of Level Playing Field, said “The Weeks of Action are a crucial time in our year, where we ask all clubs to celebrate the positive steps they have taken towards providing inclusion and equal access for all fans. The purpose of the fortnight is to share and promote examples of good practice, and to demonstrate that even small adjustments can make a great difference. Clubs can also reap the benefits of making themselves more accessible, and attract many new fans to their stadiums. It is very straightforward, good access equals good business”.

A number of high-profile figures and organisations support the Level Playing Field Weeks of Action.

David Bernstein said, “As President of Level Playing Field, I am delighted to support this season’s 2 weeks of action. We all have a responsibility to ensure that sport is truly inclusive and that naturally includes the many disabled spectators who follow football and other sports. I wish every success to everyone involved with this year’s events”.

Sir Trevor Brooking CBE is Patron of the Level Playing Field Weeks of Action, and he said, "I am very happy to offer my continued support to Level Playing Field. The weeks of action that they run every year are a fantastic opportunity for clubs to celebrate the good work that they are doing to improve access to their stadiums".

Editors Notes:

Level Playing Field (LPF) was established in 1998 as The National Association of Disabled Supporters (NADS).

In March 2011 NADS changed its trading name to Level Playing Field to better embrace the social model of disability and our works and projects.

Level Playing Field are the only national registered charity for England and Wales representing disabled fans of all sports together with their personal assistants and advocates. Level Playing Field engages with stakeholders from across football and other sports and is proud to have a wide membership that demonstrates this critical collaboration.
