CAFE announces change of venue for its first European conference ‘Total Football, Total Access’.

We have today announced the need to change the location of our conference from the National Stadium in Warsaw, Poland to Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Commenting on the change of venue, CAFE's Managing Director, Joyce Cook said:

“After careful consideration and in full consultation with all stakeholders we have jointly agreed that the National Stadium will not be fully operational and tested for a disability focused event in time for September 2011. Although we are disappointed not to be holding our inaugural event in Poland ahead of Euro 2012, we feel it is prudent not to add additional pressures to the build programme at such an important time for the stadium operations team.”

The dates of the conference will not change and the event will be hosted by Wembley Stadium on 24th and 25th September 2011.

Joyce Cook adds:

“We are all delighted that Wembley has made itself available to us and we look forward to welcoming both disabled and non-disabled football fans from many European countries, sponsors, UEFA and our guest speakers to one of the finest stadiums in the world. We now not only look forward to a successful conference in September, but also to returning to the National Stadium in Poland as supporters for UEFA EURO 2012 to see what is sure to be another excellent and fully accessible European football stadium.”

CAFE’s primary aim is to promote and deliver inclusive football stadiums across Europe and to ensure that everyone including those who face physical, sensory, psychological and intellectual barriers can access the game. The conference will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss inclusive stadium design along with solutions for improving existing facilities and services.

Attendance to ‘Total Football, Total Access’ is free of charge, and there is a limited number of travel and accommodation grants available. For further information and to register please contact conference@cafefootball.eu or +44 (0)20 3287 1619

Editor Notes

CAFE (Centre for Access to Football in Europe) was created via UEFA's Monaco Charity Award in 2009.

CAFE has been created to promote and ensure equal access across UEFA's region. CAFE is providing support, guidance and advice to all of our partners and stakeholders.

Stakeholders include the EC (through CEN), UEFA as the governing body, national Football Associations and their leagues and member clubs, UEFA’s EURO-2012 partners, disabled fans, their advocates and personal assistants, disabled supporter groups, other national and European diversity and supporter networks, disability and equality Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and other interested organizations.

CAFE's aims are inclusivity and equality of experience, and because football embraces diversity in all its forms, CAFE is working with the football family to raise disability awareness more widely throughout Europe. Part of our mission is to empower disabled people to exercise their rights.

CAFE will deliver the UEFA EURO-2012 project called Respect Inclusion – Football with no Limits with the objective to facilitate better access to the tournament and host cities
