Free Workshops for Parents

Contact have free workshops running in September, October and November. Listed below are the workshops for September. Workshops running in October and November will be listed in upcoming Ebulletins. If you would like to book on these or any of their Autumn workshops, please email westmids.office@contact.org.uk or call 0121 274 0437. The workshops are free to attend for any parent of a special needs child regardless of where they live.  

DLA Workshop – Making an Effective Claim on Friday 14th September from 10am-12.30pm

This is a free workshop for parents/carers of children with disabilities or special needs. The workshop will show you how to deal with common issues such as, How to complete a claim form effectively, Rules for claiming Disability Living allowance and lots more. The workshop is being held at Allens Croft Disability Resources Centre, Allens Croft Road, Kings Heath, B14 6RP.

Getting Health and Social Care Support on Thursday 20th September from 10.30am-12.30pm

Do you have trouble accessing support services for your disabled or special needs child? Research shows this is often the case. This free workshop delivered by Cerebra aims to unpick these problems and to equip parents with practical and effective strategies to address them. The workshop will consider, Commonly occurring problems facing families accessing services, Recognising different types of dispute, Problem solving approaches. The workshop is being held at Church Lounge, Selly Oak Methodist Church, Langleys Road, B29 6HT.

School and College Transport issue on Tuesday 25th September from 10.15am.12.30pm

This is a free workshop for parents which will look at school transport issues.  The workshop will be facilitated by a solicitor who specialises in public law, special needs education and community care issues. The workshop is being held at Shoosmiths, 6th Floor, 2 Colmore Square/38Colmore Circus, Birmingham, B4 6BJ.

Wear Red for Zac on 28th September 2018

Wear red for Zac and raise money to send him to the USA for treatment. Zac Oliver is 4 years old and from Broseley, he has a very rare and aggressive form of Leukaemia, the only child in the UK suffering with this type. Please all help to get Zac to the USA by wearing RED on 28th September 2018. PODS Parent Carer Forum Party Night: 10th Year Anniversary Celebrations on Friday 14th September 2018

The plans are looking good....band and music, food ordered, drinks vouchers gone to print, photo booth booked, treats and surprises and a proper celebration for everyone. Please join us and help us to celebrate our anniversary - parent carers and friends/family welcome - tickets are £5 each to guarantee a great night.
