UEFA Champions League and Europa League group stage draws - HAVE YOUR SAY on stadium access

The UEFA Champions League and Europa League Group Stage draws took place last week, and many disabled fans are now busy planning their trips to follow their teams.

You can find access information for clubs participating in both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League on the CAFE website. Each stadium page also has a HAVE YOUR SAY section, where disabled fans and their companions can upload comments and photos of their experiences.

Disabled youngsters accompany UEFA Super Cup captains onto the pitch

The UEFA Super Cup 2016 was a particularly memorable experience for two young disabled fans, who were selected as player escorts for the match.

Eleven-year-old Sayed Ali and ten-year-old Ismail Jamal accompanied the Real Madrid and Sevilla captains onto the pitch ahead of kick-off.

Sayed and Ismail both live in Norway with their families but are from Afghanistan and Syria respectively.

German national disabled supporters group holds annual meeting

Bundesbehindertenfanarbeitsgemeinschaft e.V. (BBAG) recently held their annual meeting in Leipzig, Germany.

BBAG is the national disabled supporters group in Germany, and has been working to improve access and inclusion in Germany since being founded in 1999.

At the meeting, the new BBAG Committee was elected with Alexander Friebel of Bielefeld named as the new Chair. Volker Sieger will remain as BBAG Vice-Chair, and Alexandra Lüddecke of Bremen was announced as the new Deputy Vice-Chair.

CAFE Managing Director talks access and inclusion with Dutch legend Ruud van Nistelrooy

CAFE Managing Director Joyce Cook met with Ruud van Nistelrooy ahead of the UEFA Champions League Group Stage draw in Monaco to discuss access and inclusion.

van Nistelrooy is a three-time UEFA Champions League top scorer, and the IFFHS 'Top Scorer of the Decade' for the 2001-2010 period.

The UEFA.com interview will be published in the near future and will be shared on the CAFE website, social media and newsletters.


Wesley Sneijder donates Turkish Süper Kupa medal to disabled fan

Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder recently donated his Turkish Süper Kupa medal to a disabled Galatasaray fan.

The Süper Kupa is an annual match between the winners of the Süper Lig and the Turkish Cup, and acts as a curtain raiser for the upcoming season. This season’s match between Galatasaray and Besiktas finished 1-1, with Galatasaray winning a penalty shootout 3-0.

After the Galatasaray squad were presented with their winners medals, Sneijder spotted a disabled fan and gave him an unforgettable experience.

Fare Football People small grants deadline approaches: Get involved

The closing date to apply for a Fare Football People small grant and join an international movement of hundreds of thousands of people using football to create better societies by challenging discrimination is Tuesday, 6 September.

The Football People small grants scheme provides funding of up to €500 for football related grassroots activities to address discrimination and promote social inclusion through football, celebrate diversity, further the empowerment of women and ethnic minorities and help refugee inclusion.

Interventions must be held during the two-weeks of the campaign, between 06 and 20 October.

Inaugural FIFA Diversity Award to be presented at Soccerex

FIFA has announced that its first-ever FIFA Diversity Award will be presented at the Soccerex Global Convention on 26 September 2016 in Manchester.

The FIFA Diversity Award highlights the importance of the fight against exclusion and discrimination, and will recognise an outstanding organisation, group initiative or football personality that is standing up for diversity and anti-discrimination in football. Through this symbolic recognition and honour, FIFA hopes to inspire others around the world to take up the cause.

The award will be presented by FIFA Secretary General Fatma Samoura and the ceremony will be followed by a panel discussion on diversity in sport.

Still time to HAVE YOUR SAY - CAFE European survey 2016

The CAFE European survey 2016 is still live, meaning that you can still have your say on access and inclusion if you haven't already.

We are calling on disabled fans, their companions and advocates to take part in this survey. We want to know about your experiences, and the remaining barriers that you believe are preventing all disabled football fans from attending live matches. We greatly appreciate your opinions which will help us to determine the next stages of our ongoing works and our shared ambition to work together to promote wider inclusion across the game.

Disabled fans comments - Have Your Say

The Have Your Say section of the CAFE website is your opportunity to share your matchday experiences with us. Tell us what you found good, not good, and what you felt could have been improved. Fans comments are taken seriously, and can help to make a real positive change for other disabled fans visiting the stadium in the future.

Leaving your fans comments is easy to do. Simply go to www.cafefootball.eu and using the dropdown menus select the stadium that you have recently visited. Each stadium has its own fans comments section where you can share your experiences in any language.
