Disabled sports fans are being invited to submit written evidence as part of the Culture, Media & Sport Select Committee Accessible Stadia Inquiry.
Level Playing Field were invited to give evidence at a Select Committee hearing on the 24th May, which you can view here
The deadline for submissions is close of play 30th June 2016

CAFE named Industry Partner of the Year at The Stadium Business Awards
CAFE’s works have been recognised at The Stadium Business Awards 2016, where CAFE has received the Industry Partner of the Year Award.
On receiving the award, CAFE Media & Communications Manager, Mike Rice said: “At CAFE, we work hard to ensure that disabled people can take their rightful place in the game that we love, not just as spectators and players but also as administrators, coaches, decision makers and leaders. This award recognises the important role that disabled people, who constitute the largest minority group, can play in football and other sports”.

Young Liverpool fan with celebral palsy invited by club to watch team train
Aaron Browne, a boyhood Liverpool fan with celebral palsy has achieved his dream of meeting his heroes after a visit was arranged to the Red’s Melwood training ground.
Organised by the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association and LFC Foundation, Aaron watched the first team train before meeting stars such as Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, with the highlight of the day coming when he met Red's manager Jurgen Klopp.

Disability News Service: Premier League silent on whether clubs can break promises on access
The Premier League has refused to say whether its clubs will be allowed to backtrack on a public pledge to reach basic access standards for disabled fans by August 2017.
The promise was made by the Premier League last August, and was widely welcomed at the time by disabled fans and politicians, with Justin Tomlinson, minister for disabled people, claiming it was “a huge achievement”.

Kick it Out find disability abuse constitutes 12% of all discriminatory social media posts in 2015/16 season
Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion organisation, has published new research to coincide with the launch of the organisation’s #KlickItOut campaign, to raise awareness around football-related discrimination on social media.
The study found that out of all the 134.2K discriminatory messages posted on social media during the 2015/16 football season, at least 12% of them made reference to disability.

Liberty Stadium wins award for online ticketing system for disabled fans
The Liberty Stadium, home of Swansea City FC and Ospreys RFC, has won the Customer Service award at the Ticketing Technology awards for an innovative new online ticketing system for disabled supporters.

Tony Clough awarded MBE for his Changing Places campaign work
Volunteer Tony Clough has been awarded an MBE for his campaign to increase the provision of Changing Places toilet facilities in public venues.
With over 840 Changing Places toilets now in the UK, Tony has set his sights on more being installed at all major sports venues in the country, saying, “I’d at least like them, as a sports fan, in all sports stadia'.

Have your say - CAFE Disabled Fans Survey 2016
There is still time to take part in the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE) Disabled Fans Survey 2016.
The survey aims to gain a better understanding of disabled supporters’ match-day experiences, the challenges still faced and the remaining barriers that are preventing all disabled football fans from attending live matches.
The survey is a great opportunity for disabled fans to have their say and to help determine the future course of action for CAFE in their works and to promote wider inclusion across the game.
